Students from the 4m-program at Stockholm School of Economics organized an independent TEDx event on April 21st 2010, TEDxSSE4m. 110 people attended and it was a good mix between students, professors and staff from SSE and professionals. Approximately 50 % represented business and 50 % the academia, just like we wanted it to be. Our attendees:
The event started around 6 pm and we started by showing a recorded TEDtalk by Alex Ohanian
Joakim Jardenberg was our first live speaker. He had a brand new presentation about government 2.0 and the responsibility we have in demanding more openness and democracy from our governments around the world.
Joakim Jardenberg and Lisa Enckell after his talk.
The attendees got the chance to discuss these first two talks during a coffee break where we served buns and coffee.
After the break it was time for our second recorded talk, this time an emotional talk by Aimee Mullins questioning what real beauty is and our view on disabled people. Truly inspiring talk.
Robin Teigland is an associate professor at Stockholm School of Economics, focusing on competitiveness and networks and she was our second live speaker. She talked about learning and leadership in virtual worlds, primarily about Second Life. Her presentation really sparked discussions among the attendees. See her slides below.
Robin Teigland got a lot of questions from the attendees after her talk.
Our last talk was by Tomas Bacoccoli from MTG Radio. He talked about the importance of sound and music in marketing and how important it is to be emotional when communicating. In order to be emotional and be able to affect people, sound and music is crucial.

After all the presentations it was time to mingle and continue the discussions in the student pub.
A big thank you to our speakers, all attendees, our volunteers and everyone else who made this evening such a nice experience! A video will be uploaded on Youtube and more pictures can be found on our fan-page at Facebook. If you have any questions or comments about the event please email; lisaenckell@gmail.com or eleni.sse4m@gmail.com
Part of the team after the event; Elia, Marcus, Eleni, Johanna, Sofie and Vanessa
Oh, you don't understand a word of Swedish and were expecting to find some relevant information here? If Google translate doesn't make sense (it rarely does). Check out my profile on LinkedIn or send me a tweet @enckelli.
